Bill Gates recently in his blog “GatesNotes” wrote about a book that he read “The Choice: Embrace the Possible” and he shared his experience after reading this book. He mentioned the book is –
“An Auschwitz Survivor’s Guide to healing”.
It is a life story of the author Dr. Edith Eva Eger who expressed her fascinating insight into how people move on after trauma.
The book is of 320 pages in English Language and it was published by Scribner in 2018. It is a New York Times Bestseller and #1 in Dancer Biographies having a 4.8 out of 5 stars.
In the note, Bill Gates says Eger’s life story gives her fascinating insight into how people move on after trauma and the book is a guide to healing. He had further said many of us would, unfortunately, have to grapple with at some point in our lives. During the time of Corona Pandemic, it is very relevant and the good news is that there is no shortage of smart, thoughtful people out there offering advice on the subject. Dr. Edith Eva Eger is an example who through her “The Choice” tries to provide guidance in processing trauma.
Oprah while giving her review on “The Choice”, a New York Times Bestseller mentions that the book is a reminder of what courage looks like in the worst of times. She tries to emphasize that it is our choice between what we all have the ability (i) to pay attention to what we’ve lost, or (ii) to pay attention to what we still have.
